to recall one of its popular models. patti ann browne live in the newsroom with the details. >> toyota will recall 2.77 million vehicles worldwide including some of its popular prius hybrid cars. they say there are steering and water pump problems. it is the carmaker's second multimillion-dollar recall, vehicle recall in a little over a month. toyota says the defects have caused no accidents and can be fixed in an hour or so but this could cost hundreds of millions of dollars for toyota to repair, at least according to one auto analyst. while the recall is widespread, the flaws are considered less serious than in previous recalls in 2009 and 2011. in those, unintended acceleration problems in toyota vehicles were the suspected cause of fatal crashes in the united states. toyota this year recaptured the crown of the world's top automaker after last year's natural disasters which temporarily disrupted production in japan and thailand. this latest recall involves fixing a steering component that could be damaged by wear and tear and replacing water pumps on 630,000 gasoline electric hybri

, a last effort to get out the vote. steve brown is in columbus this afternoon. steve, when ohio starts reporting their numbers, those will be early votes, favoring the president. do we have a sense of how much an edge he has from the early voting numbers? >>guest: analysis of the early voting is by the counties in which they were cast. you do not register as a democrat or a republican in this state so they do not have a good handle on can democrats or republicans early voted. but the former g.o.p. chairman in ohio looked at the distribution and he likes what he sees in terms of, perhaps, good news for governor romney. have a listen. >> if you look at the early vote in the counties that obama won in 2008, early vote is up 3 percent. if you look at the early vote town out in counties that were won by john mccain in 2008, it is up 14 percent. that is an advantage for governor romney. >> but he and other republicans in the state say definitely obama will start the night off with a lead when ohio starts reporting. >>shepard: we can get a sense of ohio in the early going after the polls clos

on tuesday. steve brown is live for us in mansfield, ohio, with the latest. hi, steve. >> hi there. yes, ohio presidential campaigns, it could be argued or split into two halves. election day, the second half. leading up to that, about getting folks to vote early, that's the first half. and that's the strength of the obama campaign. by aklimmation, it's expected obama will go into election day here in ohio with an edge. the question is, how great an edge? why the emphasis on early voting? essentially for every supporter you get to the polls, that means your concentration of resource social security working on a smaller universe of potential voters to try and influence. so in their view, it is a more efficient way of getting folks to the polls and a winning formula. they brought in people to provide a little bit of motivation, if you will. the afl-cio president, richard trumka, obama ally, was talking to unionized folks about their interest or their -- what's in their best interest in getting this president reelected is that the top of trumka's list and he was stealing from the president's own
